Eileen was born in Toronto. She was the well-loved and loving daughter of Robert Malachy Power and Mary Bridget (née McLaughlin). Eileen was a devoted older sister to her dear Wendy (Power Kennedy) (dec) and she leaves to mourn her many beloved cousins (in Ireland), her Congregation of Notre Dame sisters, as well as many caring friends whose presence and love blessed her life.
She was a proud alumni of Notre Dame High School where she would later be a teacher as well as school chaplain. She entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1962 and made her first profession of vows on August 24th, 1965. Missioned to Brockville, Westport and Toronto, Eileen touched the lives and hearts of hundreds of children and young people wherever she taught. After her career in formal education, Eileen ministered as a retreat and spiritual director where she continued to inspire and to be inspired. She also served in leadership roles within the Congregation of Notre Dame.
A life-long learner and lover of life and a humble member of the Congregation of Notre Dame, she deeply desired to make the world a little better through ‘liberating education’ in all of her varying ministries.
May Eileen be joyfully welcomed home by her loving God!
