With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Evangelia Goussios on February 23, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario. While her loss leaves a deep void in our lives, we thank God for allowing her to pass peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Evangelia was born on October 24, 1943, in Parakalamos, Greece. From humble beginnings, she carried within her a fierce love for family, deep faith, and an unwavering determination to build a better future. With courage and hope in her heart, Evangelia and her husband immigrated to Canada in 1963, settling in Toronto with dreams of a better life not just for themselves but for the generations to come. She believed wholeheartedly in the promise of opportunity and that her family would build a proud name for themselves in their new home.
Her greatest joy was her family. Evangelia was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Mihalis, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and commitment. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her incredible cooking. She expressed her love through food, always preparing meals that brought everyone to the table and kept them there for hours in conversation and connection.
She was a proud and loving mother to Demitri, Spiro (Linda), and Popi (Bill). Nothing brought her more happiness than being Yiayia to her cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth, Gabriella, Joe, Sophia, and Michael. They were her heart and her legacy, and she prayed constantly for their health, happiness, and success.
Evangelia will be remembered for her generous spirit, her strength, her unwavering devotion to her faith and family, and her deep belief that hard work and love would light the way forward. Her life was a testament to sacrifice, resilience, and unconditional love.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Toronto Western Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Evangelia in her final hours. Your kindness and support during this unimaginable loss brought great comfort to our family and will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to SickKids Foundation, supporting children and families in need.
Though she is no longer with us, her prayers, her values, and her dreams for her family will live on in every one of us. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
May her memory be eternal.
