With deepest love we announce the passing of our beloved Filomena Caccamo. She passed away on June 19, 2023 in Toronto with her loving daughters by her side. Filomena was born on July 18, 1944 in Consenza, Italy. She has now been reunited with her dear husband Fortunato (1997), her parents Giuseppe (2008) and Francesca (1989), and her sister Mirella (1999).
Filomena is the loving mother to Maryrose (Mario) and Silvana (Robert); cherished Nonna to Eric, Dylan, Jesse, and Jack; and sister to Rosetta. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins who will miss her deeply.
Filomena always put her family first. Mena was a strong woman, whom demonstrated an abundance of care, nurture, patience, and honesty to all those she loved. She would always make time for Sunday family lunch gatherings. She would make traditional Italian meals to be shared amongst her family, we all looked forward to spending time together and enjoying a well prepared meal by Filomena. Special occasions were always celebrated with many extended family members where there would be plenty of food, drink, fun, and laughter.
For over 37 years, Mena’s entrepreneurial skills made her hairdressing business a staple in her community. Her clients became part of her life as relationships grew over the years. Her home business, Mena’s Beauty Salon, allowed her to be fortunate in balancing both the needs of her family and work life. Her strong work ethics and trustworthiness allowed her to be a successful woman both with her family and her business.
Filomena was devout to her faith throughout her life. She was an active member in St. Anthony’s Church for over 40 years. She regularly attended Sunday mass, rosary groups, and contributed in many other ways to her community. Her faith, beliefs, and values allowed her to be the considerate and selfless person she was. She will be forever remembered, loved, and missed by all of her family and friends.
