My lovely fourth grade teacher at West Prep

Florence recruited me, on a trip to Scotland, 15 years ago for my first international teaching job in Hong Kong.  I recently visited Oman with another colleague recruited by Florence.  We decided we should google and try to find out and thank Florence for the journey she started and encouraged us on.  It was with great sadness that we found her obituary.  Florence gave me the most amazing opportunity and supported me through a hard first year of teaching.  The experiences, friendships and opportunities which followed and been amazing and I wish I had taken the time sooner to tell her how much I appreciated her giving me the opportunity.  May she rest in peace!

My condolences to Florence's family.  While I scrolled through the photos with sadness, I also feel blessed that I had the opportunity to meet this inspirational, independent lady.

I was so happy to see all of these wonderful pictures of Florence.  Knowing her for the last 10 years has been a real pleasure.  Our talks of past travel experiences - London and Hong Kong in particular, pets, and life in general were always enjoyable parts of my day - usually 2 or 3 times a month at Sunrise.   She was a warm and kind person - and someone I'll miss having in my life.  I'm happy to know she's in a better place.

On behalf of my colleagues at Educational Consulting Services I would like to extend sincere condolences to Florence's family, friends and members of her Church.
  
Florence was hired by ECS to work in Oman as Vice-Principal of the Rustaq Teacher's College.  Florence's role was to be an agent of change in the training of future Omani female teachers.  This was an extraordinarily challenging assignment from both professional and personal points of view.  There was little enthusiasm for “change” among her College colleagues, yet Florence patiently managed to make a difference using her tack, experience and her sunny outlook.  Living alone (not counting her globe-trotting dog Lexi) in a strange land and immersed in a different culture was also not easy.  Florence never wavered and never complained, despite having to rely mostly on her own to solve home plumbing issues, visa issues and other troubles.
   
We were truly blessed fortunate to have Florence as part of the ECS team and will always remember her fondly.

I remember Florence as a colleague in North York, Ontario Ministry of Education and then in Hong Kong. A very fine educator and a very kind and gracious person. She will be missed by many.

Florence and us have been neighbours for over 25 years.  We will miss her smiles with twinkles in her eyes, her gentleness, and the wonderful afternoons we had dim sum together at her place.

Florence, you will always live in our hearts and prayers.

Sad to hear the news. I worked together with Florence in Scholastic Hong Kong office. Florence was amazingly healthy and energetic. She kept her smile and positive thinking even though she has to work very late in the office in some days. I learnt a lot from her.

Florence and I were not only colleagues in North York, but became and remained friends and confidantes throughout our careers both here and abroad, and into retirement. As much as possible,we kept in touch by telephone and only recently discussed my planned August visit to Oakville. Kindly, caring,loving and loved,she kept in touch.Florence seemed to forget no detail shared, and with every good intention,was as one of her puppies with a slipper on issues which mattered to her. Her family and friends were always foremost in her concerns. Professionally and personally, Florence left a wonderful legacy and will be missed by all who appreciated her strengths.  We are fortunate to have shared her life and to have our memories. My sympathy and condolences are extended to her devoted brother Jack and the Roberston and Scroggie families. Having lived a long and good life with us,may our dear Florence now rest in the protection of Eternal Peace and Care.

Mrs.Scroggie was a fun lady and teacher at Don Mills C.I. She opened my eyes and heart to Dickens with "A Tale of Two Cities".  She also was the choreographer for a group of us 'girls' to dance the Can-Can at April Antics. She had a smile that could light up the room. Condolences to her family and loved ones.  She made a difference.

It's wonderful to see the pictures here showing all of Mrs. Scroggie's  different interests.  As a teenager in her English class at DMCI, I remember her beautiful welcoming smile.  I remember that she accepted you as you were and always left you with a question.   - something to think about, don't you think?

I too remember our wonderful English classes at DMCI. She was the only teacher who made me feel worthwhile. A truly wonderful person. God Bless her, and sincere condolences to her family

I remember Florence from University Women's Club in Toronto.  We were on the Board together and Florence's wisdom and cheerful personality were a bright light at those meetings.  I also remember how fond she was of her darling dog - a poodle.  My deepest sympathy goes to her brother Jack and all the others who loved her and will miss her. She left the world a better place.

I will always remember her English Class at Don Mills CI in which I was introduced to George Orwell and Stephen Vincent Benet. It appears to have been a life well lived.

The nieces and nephews from her marriage to George Scroggie, the Lock and Stopps children, remember Aunt Florence as always cheerful, kind, and easy to talk to. Her beauty and style were remarkable as well. Please accept our condolences on the loss of such a lovely woman.

Although it is very sad to lose her, it is wonderful to see so many vibrant photographs of Aunt Florence traveling the world and making a difference in so many places. She looks just like I remember her at the cottage on Lake WahWashKesh.  She was our glamorous aunt, and we loved seeing her each summer. It was also great to see her with her beloved standard poodles - whenever I see a standard poodle I think of Aunt Florence. Our sympathy and condolences to her Robertson family. Please accept all my sympathy and condolences for the loss of Florence. We taught together on the Principal's Course in Sudbury (many, many years ago) and we had the greatest summer because of Florence.She has been and always will be in my memories.
