He was such a great man who exuded such light and love every time I saw him. I would give him a hug and kiss, which he would always welcome like he was my Nonno too. To my loving uncle Gaetano you were  A man with a great heart always soft-spoken with words of encouragement my Zio Always smiling and had a great outlook on life every time we were together always put a smile on my face There was so many great memories with You but my fondest memory was when you came to me and asked me if  needed a model from my hair styling course and that  you would take the day off work and be there for me  You came downtown Toronto in a blizzard by bus for meAnd because of Your patience and guiding me by telling me to take my time put a little more shaving cream and not to cut to much in certain spots because of that I got licensed I’ll never forget that Zio You are an amazing man I know you’re with your brothers and sisters now with  our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I love you your nephew Francesco

On behalf of both the Vacilotto and Molinaro families we offer our deepest sympathies and condolences on the passing of our Brother-in-law and Uncle Gaetano.

Gaetano has and will always be a treasured member of our family. A proud and honorable man who lived a life of sincerity and humility. He exhibited a quiet strength and dignity as a human being. A tireless worker with an infectious laugh and smile, whose inquisitive nature and candor, could leave you rolling with laughter with some of his life’s lessons and straight to the point line of questioning.  

Something not so well know was that Gaetano served in the 2nd World War. On those rare occasions he recounted stories about  the hardships he endured at the hands of German Soldiers. Gaetano was taken as a prisoner of War by the German Forces and spent two years in an internment camp in Belgium before being rescued by American Soldiers at War’s end. Even without this being stated he already was heroic in our hearts and minds. 

There’s something somewhat poignant that his passing has coincided so near to Remembrance Day.

We’ll always cherish the memories of the great many joyous occasions spent together full of laughter and cheer.

He will be dearly missed by all of us more than words can articulate.
