My Father was a great man; he touched a lot of people in many different ways. 
There was no better man, father or grandfather. 
He will be missed by many, but never forgotten. 
Let a piece of him be with each and everyone, as his pure, generous and selfless spirit will remain.

I found it very difficult to write something that could fully encompass my feelings about my Dad. 
I like to think I am great with words. It's kind of my thing. 
But I have too many thoughts and words don't feel like enough for me this time.
How can we sum up the life of a man so great? 
Where do I find the words to tell
everyone how wonderful he was? 
Could it be that you all know and that is why you are here? 
My Dad's kind and generous spirit touched everyone in some way.
A smile and laugh were never in short supply with George. 
He was fun-loving and easy-going and it was evident in all that he did. 
It has given me strength and fleeting moments of happiness to hear all the great stories from others about
George. 
Pockets filled with treats, little bits of paper sometimes even fish! 
How he overanalyzed every win and loss at Scrabble, or Crib, or Bug your neighbour, or any other of his favorite games. 
We've heard stories about my Mom and Dad's arranged marriage, weekly dates to the movies and adding to their record collection, cruises and trips, and his love of food.
Dad was quick to hand over a 20
or give us a ride anywhere at any hour, and full of cheesy puns. 
Oh the cheesy puns. 
Sometimes he would just be silent for a minute or so-you could almost see
his mind working-and he would come up with something. 
Cringe worthy, but classic Dad.
Grandpa was very proud of all his grandchildren. 
He was always ready with the wiggles for his girls and the poufy tradition lived on with Jacob. 
Dad had a special kind of magic.
How many times will we say
Remember that time when
OrDad would have liked that
OrLet's do it for, George.
His spirit will live on in our memories of him. 
We will love and miss him always.

My father was a good man. Not just a good man.. the best of men.
Throughout his life he lived with honour and love in his heart. 
Never a cross word.. never a harsh judgment.. there was not a bad bone within him.
To him.. family and friends were paramount. Nothing was more important.. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by those whom he loved.
His unflattering positive attitude.. His lust for life.. His love of all things fun.. was infectious.
Just being in his presence.. even if you had a bad day.. your spirits would be lifted.
You could not help but smile and laugh when you were with my father.
His love of all things sports..This positive attitude, and unfaltering support extended to his love of our hallowed Toronto Maple Leafs. Even with them he would always look on the bright side.
Even if, sometimes, they gave very little to go on.
My father loved playing family games at home.. Whether it be scrabble or cribbage.. or bridge or even Chinese checkers.
He loved to win. and was always amazed when he lost.. he always would try and analyze...
Just where did I go wrong?
His love of golf.. His game, as well as my own.. somehow never seemed to get much better...
But he never let that bother him.
He and I were always very close in score.. the score was important of course.. he was an accountant after all.. but it was secondary.
To him.. it was about being there and enjoying the experience
His loved to fish.. but to be more accurate To go trouting .
No fish story was bigger.. longer.. and more detailed than my father's.
To him it was one of life's simple pleasures.. the fishing itself was only a part of the story though..
To him the mugup was his favorite part of the story.
For him the experience was all about sharing the experience..
But perhaps more accurately...
The experience of being with those he loved.
This was the part of every experience that mattered most to my dad.
I think that perhaps he lived by a set of some simple rules. They worked for him.
And maybe to emulate them are the key to a happy life.
The simple rules of George James Andrews
To never sweat the small stuff..
To always look for the silver lining in every situation..
To have patience, and understanding
To enjoy life..
To be good to each other..
To love each other.
This was my dad..
I'm going to miss him.

Dear Uncle George,

I still can't believe you're gone, and I won't get to hear you say Hello there boy! ever again. It's hard to imagine a world without your kindness, thoughtfulness and sense of humour. You were always such a big influence in my life, I know I would have grown up a different person without you. I am thankful though, that I got to enjoy one last gathering with you, at your 70th birthday party last summer. 

Growing up, our families regularly got together for birthday parties, road hockey games, swimming, golf, and many other activities, such as going to Blue Jays and Leafs (i.e. the boys') games. But regardless of the event, you never stopped being the same fun-loving guy who was always up for a joke and a chuckle, and who went out of his way to make things as fun as possible for us kids. As a result, you have provided me with so many priceless' memories, I can't begin to count them. 

You always made me feel welcome in your home, and were there to help whenever I needed you. Thank you, Uncle George. As I move forward and try to accept the idea of life without you, I will keep you alive in my memories.

Aunt Dot and family....I am both saddened and shocked to hear of Uncle Georges passing...will miss his smile and laughter.  He always had a hug for me whenever I would see him. Will miss seeing him on your yearly trips to Nfld...so glad that I had gotten to know him these past few years. Looking through the pictures, one thing is very clear that while he had changed slightly over the years, that same warm smile and laugh did not.  He seemed happiest while around family and friends. Very sad to hear of George's sudden passing. George was such a good friend of the family , especially our mom and sister Frances. His smile and friendly personality will always be a pleasant memory. It's another reminder that the extended Andrews Clan is short another great member as of now. We extend our condolences to you and your family. Wishing you all the best as you go forward without George, but with all those wonderful memories, especially from Port de Grave the town of his roots.

It was a privilege to have George as a friend.  His huge smile and stories would lighten any room.  He will be missed in the Gardens.

We have many wonderful memories with George; Julianne and Dan's wedding, our trip to Newfoundland in 09,a Florida visit, hockey games, and many gatherings with our shared granddaughters, Penny and Emma. One as recently as Dec 12 at Emma;s Birthday, we spent the day together, talking about the Leafs and jays, picking up Pizza and going out for dinner.
