Godfrey "Swifty" Swift

20 September, 19442 April, 2021

Godfrey Albert “Swifty” Swift, was born on September 20, 1944, and walked off into the sunset on April 2, 2021.

Godfrey was born in Brightons County, England, and was just two years old when he made Canada home. It was here that he became a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1, and the Little Club, where he soon developed a love of playing darts, snooker, and card games.

There are so many cherished memories of trips to the trailer, camping trips, and road trips to Quebec. There were so many fun times of going up to ‘Rama to watch shows and concerts, going to the movies, going out dancing, go-carting, or hitting a few balls at the driving range, the golf green, or at mini-putt.

He will always be remembered for his warm hospitality; whenever you went to Godfrey’s house he would always offer you a cold beer, and share a laugh with you over a pint.

Godfrey is survived by his beloved partner and best friend Jacqueline, his siblings, many, many, many nieces and nephews, and many friends from the legion. He was predeceased by his loving parents Maud and Stanley, and his three brothers Ronald, Michael, and Peter. He will be deeply missed.

You will be greatly missed, Godfrey, especially by your loving Jacki.
I’ll make a point of cheering her up and going for a walk with a side trip to McDonald’s for her favourite iced coffee.
Rest In Peace, Godfrey.🙏🏼

To Jackie & Family,
So very sad to hear about Swifty's passing. So many memories it is difficult to know where to start. Your place, our place, the trailer, the Legion. Remembering the round table at the Legion., Peter, Tommy & Swifty waiting for a game of pool., then off to the race track to bet some losers lol., back to the Legion for another game of pool (which he was very good at) Swifty was a quiet, respectful man, who did life "his way". Marched proudly with the Legion on many occasions., Remembrance day, opening of the CNE, any functions of importance with the Legion., you could count on him!!!! He will be sorely missed by many who's lives he touched. Tommy has laid a poppy at the Epitaph in Kew Gardens.,also the Monument at the Legion in his memory. R.I.P Swifty he was for sure one of the "good guys"
Tommy, Christine & family.

My deepest condolences to you and Godfrey's family. With strong hugs I share memories of my step dad. He was many things to me besides a step dad..... he was the skip in my mom's steps, the best hot dog maker to my daughter when she was young, the fan of my loaded baked potato soup and brownies and a loving companion to my late fur babies Archie and Farley. I know you are with all your buddies now and Archie and Farley are part of your entourage. Please always be the guardian angel to my mom and never leave her side. She is the stars to your moon.

Loving you always,
Suzanne, Robert, Reilley and Otis
