I was very sorry to hear of Herma's passing. I first got to know Herma at family reunions, and over the years, I enjoyed our chats as she and Abi helped me compile Kirkland names for the family reunion T-shirts. Those are fond memories.

I am truly sorry to hear that Herma has passed on. I remember how compassionate she was when I was a young girl growing up on Briar Hill. I used to love to go to your home to play the piano and chat with Herma. She was always warm, welcoming and genuinely interested in my young girl concerns. I was devastated when you moved to Brampton and so thrilled when you moved back to Briar Hill with little Hal and baby Karen. I have many fond memories of happy times spent in your home. My heart goes out to all of you.

I wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of Herma's passing. This world is a sadder place and so am I at our loss. We spent many wonderful summers at Turkey Point. Each year I looked forward to seeing Herma. She was a bit older than I, beautiful and I was in awe! Herma always made time for me. On rainy days she spent hours with me cutting out paper dolls from the Globe and Mail's Saturday issue in McKee's attic. She always had time for a precocious young girl who has remembered her well! My thoughts are with you at this time.
