I taught with Hugh at Humber College and he was one of the sweetest, most generous men I have ever met. I fondly remember our long talks about Dylan and Yeats and life. He was always so knowledgeable and wise about all those things. I will deeply miss bumping into him at either the Market or the movies . . .

Sorry to hear of Hugh's passing. Sincere sympathy to John and Ciaran and to the extended O'Donnell family. A man of immense knowledge who passed it on to so many people in life..R.I.P.

I have such warm memories of Hugh from my childhood in Mullingar.  We were neighbours and fellow students.  I always enjoyed his company.  Above all, I remember Hugh as a person of such originality, always bursting with ideas from the time we were very young.  He was such a fine person and although we had not met for many years, I am very sad to hear the news that he has died.  On my own behalf and on behalf of the Nugent family, I offer you, Anne, and all his family our deepest sympathy.
