All the Kunanec family are very sorry for your loss. We have many treasured memories of our camping trips together and our friendship. 

Irene Florence Rew has had a great impact for good on my life and was a vivacious member of our Anglican Parish of "Christ The King". She always had a contagious smile and brought the light of Jesus Christ wherever she went. I was greatly honoured when her beloved daughter Debbie contacted me to say that her Mom had indicated that she wanted me to officiate at her "Celebration of Life". I had the most wonderful chat with Irene just a few days before she went to Heaven and was amazed at her zest for life. She kept telling me how wonderful it was to be living with Debbie and her two grand daughters Leah and Cayleigh. How grateful I am that she has been re-united with her beloved husband Duncan and her beloved son Stephen. She has entered the Joy of The Lord and is in a state of happiness and felicity beyond human verbal expression!!! We miss you terribly Irene, but we take great comfort to know your safely Home and one day we will be re-united, never to ever be separated again!!! Thank you for the great gift of your amazing friendship!!!

Jim and I want to send our love and prayers.  Your Mom will forever be in our hearts and our minds because we never forgot her beautiful smile and her happy disposition.  She was a truly inspiring lady, full of love and so caring.  Many people come and go in our little church and unfortunately some of them fade from our minds - but  Irene never has.  It was with great sadness when we heard she had left this earth and moved up to be with Jesus.  You will miss her very much but she will always be with you.  What a wonderful thing it is to know that for sure in our hearts.  To you Debbie and to the girls we send our heartfelt love and caring thoughts. 

Mom, I remember when your old boss wrote a reference for you which read "If more people were like Irene Rew, this world would be a better place".  So true.  You have impacted so many lives and brought joy to so many.  I'm going to miss all the outings we used to go on and all the fun we had together.  We almost travelled the world together.  We always laughed so much together.  My life will never be the same.  I am so lucky and grateful that I have you as my Mom.  Words could never express how much I'm missing you.  I find comfort knowing you are with other family members and will always be watching over me.  You will always be my best friend.  I love you Mom xoxoxo.

You held the biggest place in my heart and always will, you spread so much happiness to everyone around you and took care of everybody no matter what. You were my motivation to keep pushing and inspired me in so many ways. I’ll always remember all the happy memories we have and everything you’ve done for me. I’ve never met anyone so smart, funny, brave and beautiful as you in my whole life and i’m so grateful that you are my gramma. I’ve always wanted to be just like you.

Gramma,

Your inner strength and resilience are what I cherish most about you. Your journey in life and the way you evolved to face and overcome challenges inspires me. You didn't do it alone; you always knew when to ask for help or who to get advice from. You were always so caring and appreciative. I really loved our time together whether it was to go to an appointment or to celebrate an occasion, you always had a smile and hug for me.

You always took care of yourself and put your best foot forward. You were always very fashionable and current in your look. You kept the hairdressers astonished about your actual age. You embraced technology as a senior and even mastered email! I get a chuckle remembering your camera though, it’s hard to come by film these days yet you’d still have your film camera at get togethers, good for you. 

I fondly remember some of the simple things we'd enjoy at your house especially during my childhood. The basement closet with toys and relics from a past generation. Having real butter at gramma's was such a treat. The epic deli sandwich buffet dinners we'd occasionally have. The laughs, jokes and entertaining stories you'd always have from everyday experiences. There are too many fantastic memories to share. You’ll be missed greatly, but I’m comforted in knowing that you’ve had such a deep impact on so many of us that your influence will shine on for years to come. 

I love you gramma! Hope dad and grampa gave you a warm welcome in heaven.


Mom, You began as my mother-in law , then mentor but most of all over the years you have been my friend. I will dearly miss our phone calls.  There is an emptiness that cannot be filled.  A time of day when I will think of you with fond memories.  I have been blessed to have you in my life!

Gramma - we will miss your sense of humour and your generous spirit.  You were always able to share a joke and have a laugh with friends and family and made sure never to forget a grandchild or great-grandchild's birthday.  You were always up for an adventure, whether it was camping with us as children (and sleeping in the dining tent!) or taking us on a day trip downtown and treating us to lunch.  I have so many wonderful memories of  spending time at your house.  Whether it was picking out what board game to play from the basement, which always seemed to contain  treasures and things to play with that were much more interesting than anything we had at home, listening to songs from the record player, or watching fireworks on the front lawn on Victoria Day weekend, we always had a great time.  I am lucky to have had you as my Gramma and Abigail, William and Thomas were just as lucky to have you as a Great-Gramma.  We will miss you.

Gramma, you will truly be missed!

As a kid, I used to look forward to dinner at Grammas house.  She always put out special treats just for us.  Now, when we had family dinners, my own kids looked forward to seeing great Gramma.  She had this way of making the kids feel extra special.

We will all miss you very much.

Gramma
You were a wonderful character, with jokes, funny tales to share and a good outlook on life. You lived life to the fullest. I’ll miss you. 

You were willing to go on adventures with us as kids, that I wouldn’t be willing to do now.  You joined Kim, Keith and I hiking through the bush in Florida. That’s crazy - what were we thinking lol. 

I laugh thinking about the time we kids schemed to make money by collecting about a hundred beer bottles off the sides of roads In Florida. You helped us collect them all. 
Only to find out Florida doesn’t have a bottle return program.  We cleaned up the neighbourhood though. 

You were the only one willing to pay the dollar for Keith and I to ride those silly mechanic ride-ons outside the grocery stores back in the day.  You spoiled us!

Then there was the good old Laura Secord butterscotch suckers whenever  we had Sunday dinners together. Always looked forward to those. 

You made a tasty leg of lamb and had some unique and tasty desserts.  Might have to get a copy of that cook book from Leah.  There was a desert you made with soda-crackers that was delicious. 

I’ve enjoyed our times together and wish I could have seen you more in the last while.   I enjoyed our visits when you were in town at Amica.

Rest In Peace Gramma. Love you! 

Gramma will be dearly missed.  I have so many fond memories of her, from  the camping trips to the sleepovers in her waterbed, to the Sunday night dinners and the fireworks on the front lawn at Tyne Court on the May long weekend.  It has been wonderful getting to share her as a Great-Gramma as our families have grown.  She is one of a kind, dearly loved and sorely missed.

Gramma was a second mom to me. I remember her singing me to sleep every night when I was little. I loved learning how to bake with her using her hand made recipe book. I always looked forward to spending time at her house and going to the beach at the bluffs. She made watching TV and playing board games so much more fun. I am so grateful to have had her be such a big part of my life. She will always be with me in my heart.

Who knew that two Granny’s taking their grandkids to school would form such a great friendship.
We will all miss you.
