Jim I’ve thought of you often throughout the years and looking at the comments left by others they  reinforce the kindness, intelligence, humour and yes, your amazing sporting abilities.  You were like a brother to me for many years and I always thought that we would see each other again but life has different plans from the ones we make sometimes.  I hope you’re with God now and I wish I had been there for you in your time of need.  I miss you and wish you finally found the peace you deserve.

My dearest Jimmy,

I think of you often and remember the long chats we use to have. I remember when you gave me my very first gym membership. I  couldn't afford it, since I was a single mom. Then you came to work out with me and to show me how to use the machines. You were always so thoughtful and caring. Yesterday my dad drove me to California sandwiches and he took a wrong turn and we ended up driving by your old street at Clinton  and College and our favorite restaurant on the corner. For a moment, it took me back in time, with so many memories rushing back to me and I swear I could feel your presence with me. It made my heart ache and brought tears to my eyes. Today, I thought about you all day and remembered the last conversation we had and the millions before that. We were always there for one another and I am so blessed to have had you and your sister Marg in my life, since we were kids. Life isn't the same without you here. I truly miss you so much and I can't wait to see you again, one day. You left us much to soon. I really wish that I knew that you were struggling once again, with your addiction. I would have been there for you, as I have been in the past, but I guess God had different plans for you. You were an amazing father to Lillie and you would be so proud of her. She's all grown up and is absolutely intelligent and a beautiful young woman. Lee is an excellent mother and has done an amazing job of raising Lillie. You'd also be so proud of Lee, for being a kick ass entrepreneur! Jimmy, thank you for watching over me, like you always said that you would. 11 years later... there isn't a day that goes by where you don't cross my mind. 

A few years ago I was heading downtown for an important event - it was a celebration for me. I took an uber that should have definitely either went across Bloor or down to the QEW to get to bay street.  Hip hop was blaring on the radio, 93.5... and I closed my eyes in the back seat.  At some point I started to hear a Christian song on the radio... I  Surrender, by Hillside.  It was so jarring amidst the Kanye and Biggie that I sat up and opened my eyes. At that very moment we were at the traffic light, beside the statues and benches across from your place at College and Clinton.

I was struck... as though by lightening, by what a unique experience that was. No coincidences. Instantly I was brought to tears. I knew that you were with me. Later I could hear your voice... "do you really think I would miss this special occasion'?

So James, I think about you daily but I know you are here with me always. And Lily... I know that you watch over her.

I can't believe it's been 10 years. You know I think about you and talk to you daily. I still believe you are here with me and Lily. Just like I know you were with Lily on her trip this summer and that you are so proud of her. You spent 10 years being an incredible dad and it really shows in how amazing Lily is.

My dearest Jimmy, so much has happened in my life, since you've been gone. I always want to pick up the phone and call you, to tell you about it. Then reality sets in and I'm reminded, once again, that you left us. The last time we spoke, your wish was for me to leave the unhealthy relationship, that I was in. Well, your wish came true. The day I came to see you at the Funeral Home, to say my goodbyes, it really put things into perspective for me. The moment I left you, that day, I went to my car, made a phone call and left that relationship and never looked back.  You gave me the courage to do that. You were so right, when you said, that God had a better plan for me. 7 months later, I was engaged to the man that became my husband. You would definitely approve of him. Every year, on this day, I tell him all about you and Margie and how much my heart misses you both. For 8 years, he's heard so much about you. In 2017, I went back to school and became a Social Service Worker. I work to support and advocate for the less fortunate and vulnerable individuals. I remember when you would volunteer at The Daily Bread food bank. You were a great power of example. You were selfless, caring, compassionate and empathetic. Jimmy, I think about you often and cherish all of our memories, together, since we were in grade school. When I've gone through difficult times, I can feel you by my side. It helps me get through the tough times. You'll always be in my heart. I love you and I miss you so much, Jimmy. I pray that you are at peace and having an Amazing time in Heaven. Love always, Lisa.

8 Years.  8 Years and I still think about you almost daily.  Lily is at University now.  She has her first BF, she's a powerful young woman that you would be so proud of.  I can't look at her without thinking about you and recognizing that so much of her self-esteem was shaped by the love and attention you gave her as a young child.  She's your legacy, James.  I know you struggled here.  I know life was painful and often seemed pointless. It wasn't. You had a purpose.

17 years ago I met a man who changed my life. He was the first man who truly believed in me and convinced me that I was powerful. He would constantly say “you are a superstar”.. or ‘only you… only you could accomplish this!” He encouraged me to get off a dark path and move towards greatness. He supported me in my first business by creating my website and cheering me on. We talked for thousands of hours and he never tired of listening to me. He stepped into the role of daddy for Lillie with 100% commitment and never strayed from that. He was the world’s best dad and took Lillie to every park, street fair, and event possible - bought her first bike, played PlayStation every weekend, went skating, took her to the zoo constantly...and a million other things. When we would break up, he would remain devoted to her and take her every weekend. He never missed a birthday or holiday and Halloween was their thing! He was brilliant and he had values and I loved him crazily. We bonded over our painful childhoods and shared struggles which for him, manifested in an addiction that eventually ended his life. It’s been seven years today and there isn’t a single day that goes by that I don’t talk to him and feel his presence. I know he watches over me and Lil, and I know he’s super proud of us. #soulmates

Jimmy, you were a part of my childhood and early teens..glad we were able to re-acquaint though briefly. Rest in Peace friend.

Jimmy I cannot describe the sorrow I feel without you in my life. You have been a part of my life since childhood and I miss you everyday and for the rest of my life. I look forward to seeing you again in the future. Thank you for being a truly loving, caring and a one of a kind friend. You were always honest with me even when I didn't want to hear it. You were always there for me in good times and most definitely in bad. This was not your time to go but, God had other plans for you. Give Margie a big Hug for me and tell her I miss her too. I will always Love you Jimmy. Till the end of time. Till we meet again my sweet Angel Till we meet again. Your friend for eternity.
