Rev. James Vincent Thompson

Born July 29, 1922 in Teeswater, ON, son of Lilian Shields and Charles Thompson, Vincent passed on to eternal life at home with his fellow Basilian Fathers at Anglin House, Toronto, October 10, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Fr. George, Walter, Maurice, Jack, Stephen, Fr. Joseph and sister Eleanor Murphy. He is survived by a great many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Vincent was professed September 1, 1943 and ordained also in Toronto June 29, 1949. In his long and active life he worked at Basilian parishes in Toronto, Detroit, Amherstburg, Owen Sound, Houston, and Cali, Columbia until he retired to Anglin house in 2008, alert and active as ever but with severely limited sight and hearing. Visitation will be held Friday, October 14 from 6:30 PM with a Wake Service at 7:30 PM in the Chapel of the Cardinal Flahiff Basilian Centre, 95 St. Joseph Street, Toronto. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, October 15 from 9 AM until a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the same Chapel. Interment will be at 4 PM Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Thornhill, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Basilian Fathers’ Retirement Fund, 95 St. Joseph Street, Toronto ON M5S 3C2.
