ERWIN, Dr. Jean, PhD. - Passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Leaside Retirement Residence at the age of 92. She is predeceased by her parents, Pearl and William Hocking; sister Margaret; brother David and sister-in-law Marjorie. She is survived by her nephew David Hocking; niece Dianne Clark; her great-nephews, Geoff Clark and Tim Clark and their families. Jean will also be missed by her extended family: Beverley, Dick, George and Maureen Logan and Jean Mitchell. Jean began teaching at Winston Churchill High School in Scarborough. The majority of her career was spent in the United States as a professor in Pullman, Washington; Ames, Iowa and Martin, Tennessee. Jean was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin, Tennessee. Jean will be laid to rest in Ottawa, with her parents and her sister. The family would like to thank all the staff and Dr. Rosenberg at Leaside for their loving care and friendship. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in her memory would be appreciated.
