John was born on September 27, 1952 in Pamplona, Spain. The Ardanaz family emigrated to Canada in 1958. Predeceased by his parents Carmen and Candido and his brother Francisco Javier (Paloma). He is survived by his sister Mari Carmen ( Eradio ); sister Mary Soledad (Vincent); brother Gerardo Maria (Barbara); cousin Ana Maria (predeceased by Fernando); nephews and nieces Patricia (Carlos); Matthew (Gillian); Ann Marie (Paul); Jessica; Mark (Lara); Lisa (Stuart); Jason (Kate); Krystyna (Scott); Natalie and 15 great nieces and nephews.
John attended Central Tech and demonstrated considerable artistic ability. He enjoyed writing and reading. John was a big fan of baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds. He loved playing the ponies and had many friends at Greenwood. Special mention to his friend Soli who was a lifelong friend of John and was always there for him.
John was always an intelligent, empathetic and humorous soul and much loved by his large family that will always remember John's kindness and large warm smile at family gatherings. His tall, bearded figure and soft voice will remain with friends and family for many years to come.
