

Peacefully on July 20, 2011 in his cherished home on Toronto Island. Born October 2, 1916 in Toronto, John has lived a full and independent life with the support of family and friends since the passing of his beloved wife of 44 years Jeannette (Nee Ouellette) in 1990. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Jacqueline (Bob Peake), Carol (Paul Daly) and Janice (Andrew Cowan) and grandchildren Corey Webster (Chi Vong), Robert Peake, Jack and Tyler Cowan and great-grandchild Kyle Webster.
John who was a World War II veteran spent most of his years employed by the Canadian National Railroad. He has lived on Toronto Island for some 60 years and will be fondly remembered as a generous, kind and warm hearted gentleman with a wonderful sense of humour, impressive memory and sharp mind. He will be missed and remembered by all who knew him including his collie dog “Sandy” who was his cherished and long-time constant companion. The family will receive friends at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, 467 Sherbourne St. (south of Wellesley) on Sunday, July 24 from 1 – 3 p.m. and 5 – 7 p.m. A mass celebrating John’s life will be held at St. Michael’s Cathedral, 65 Bond St. on Monday, July 25 at 10 o’clock. In lieu of flowers a contribution to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be kindly appreciated.
