Im sorry for the loss his family has suffered. My condolences go out to them and my heart breaks for them.
I knew John way back when I was 18 or 19 in Scarborough, hanging around the Bakers Dozen. We became fast friends. He always had a smile on his face and knew how to turn someone's bad day around with a joke or a listening ear. He watched my son and always played with him when he seen him.  He was a great friend, had a heart of gold and didn't deserve this. 

Rest in Paradise John, you will be missed by everyone ❤

I did not know John personally, however I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to his family and friends.  My prayers are with you.

I remember John as a kid getting in to trouble or if some boys were picking on me he used to pick up for me and my sisters or other cousins. John could make you laugh if you were down always had a heart of gold he will always be in my heart.

John and Carmela stayed at my house one year to dog sit my baby Izzy while I went to Newfoundland to visit my family. 
From the stories Carmela tells me he just loved my little Izzy and just couldn’t get enough of her.  And I think Izzy felt the same way towards him as she just would not stop nibbling on his ears!! Lol 
I guess she just knew that he was a good sole and a kind man.❤️  Dogs have good senses!! 
You will be missed John.  I hope the lord above welcomed you with open arms and you feel safe and at peace.

Lina and I meet John Wheeler at a barbecue at Carmela's place where he was totally concentrated in making sausages , steaks and hamburgers.  He was very focused on making everything for us as we watched this program on TV about haunted house stories.  He said very little but made our lives very easy and worry free.  That's the kind of guy he was, always thinking about others and serving others. He was a guy of few words but a solid rock in good or bad times.  We will miss his barbecue skills but above all his quiet strength.    Some people on earth are just taking space and providing nothing and others like John make this world a better place.    Their is a saying that goes like this " The good die young" and John was one of the good ones. RIP John you deserve your rest and our gratitude for a life well spent however to short.

One of my fondest memory's of my uncle John was when my grandmother and him had come to Toronto from Newfoundland back in the early 80's. We both just had turned 9 years old, and it was our very first time we ever meet each other. My stepfather had found some old yellow ski's he found in the garbage. He cleaned them up, and gave them too us to use. My uncle John said "come on Carla i'll teach you how to ski." Boy wasn't that a mistake. So then we went to the back of my house were there was a really big hill. Uncle John had helped me put the ski's on, helped me up, and then gave me a shove down the hill. I went flying down the hill, hit a tree, then i slide the rest of the way down the hill on my butt. when i got up i started running and  I chased him all over the that field that day so i could give him a snow job and shoved his face in the snow . Boy wasn't that fun. I just wish i could do it all over again. Well Uncle John i will always love you and miss you forever and ever. P.s Sorry i never came around as often as i should of. We will meet again one day. xoxox

Even though he did not talk much, I know he was a great guy for my Aunt Carm. He always  was around family gatherings as much as he could even if he was tired from work, he stuck through! I will miss his bbqs and his presence. Rest in Peace John.

Johnny, what to say. The moment I heard of this tragedy, my heart sank. I have always held close the childhood memories of us as small kids. Playing around the streets of smallwood drive in Windsor, squareball battles, sleepovers and school days. None of us had a care in the world. It was a sad day when you all moved away but as life would have it, we all grew up.  But over the years we all stayed in touch. I was lucky to have seen you in Toronto many years ago, I never imagined it would be the last. You were always such a kind soul. You have touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by all. On behalf of my family, I send my deepest condolences to all your family and friends.
