Lloyd Pearce Thoms suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in his home on April 5th, 2023. Lloyd was born in Twillingate, NL on December 2nd, 1949, to parents June and Stewart. He was a man of interminable integrity and kindness and will be missed by all that knew him. His laughs were always genuine, and his promises always kept. Lloyd grew up in the small Newfoundland fishing community of Boyd’s Cove. He spent much of his youth fishing for cod with his father and brother, at times for entire summers on Little Fogo Islands. He also worked for a brief time with the Newfoundland department of highways. He moved to Ontario at the age of 19 and often spoke fondly of his time as a bouncer at the Toronto Newfoundland club, The Caribou. He later had long careers with CN Rail and American Express. Lloyd bought his first and only home in southern Scarborough and lived there for 44 years. He coached t-ball and hockey for several years. His greatest joys were time spent with family and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play on Hockey Night in Canada. Lloyd leaves behind his older brother John (Marion), and younger sister Betty (Gerald). His sons Daniel (Nicole), James, and daughter Leslie. Nephews John, Leo, Norman, Douglas, Dennis, Stephen, Jeffrey, and Christopher. Nieces Christine and Jennifer. Predeceased by his parents, niece Geraldine and nephew Kevin. Beloved and loving Grandfather to Kate, Krissy and June whom he cherished his time with. Lloyd will sadly miss the birth of his first Great-Grandchild by just a few weeks. There are too many extended family members with fond memories of Lloyd to list here, but he loved them all dearly. His cat Lonesome was a true friend and is now living comfortably with his son Daniel. Lloyd was a proud Newfoundlander, a proud Ontarian, a proud Canadian. He leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity that will live on in us and our children for many years to come. Rest well, skipper. Wherever you’re to, long may your big jib draw.
