Dearest Marra family,

It is with the deepest sadness that I am writing this note to you.

Lou and I were colleagues in Ontario, and I am still shocked to think that he is no longer here with us.

Lou was a wonderful, brilliantly kind teacher and mentor. Although he always made time to discuss science, you could tell his true passion was his family. Lou always spoke so lovingly of his family and how proud he was of his children. His joy of family rituals, making sugo and pasta, always seemed to be the core of the kindness and warmth of his heart.

It is truly the greatest loss. I extend my deepest condolences and prayers to you Marra family in this sad time.

Dear Teresa, Daniel, Joanna, Justin, and Adam:

I was Lou’s supervisor for his Ph.D. research and thesis. I am personally very rocked by his sudden death. I am glad that I was able to attend the visitation Friday, July 6 to meet all of you and to share, in a small way, the grief that you feel following the loss of a husband and father. Lou was a very special man, loving, caring, and generous, with a great sense of humour. I have reached out to those at the University of Toronto Scarborough who were there at the same time as Lou, and the memories are all similar: the lift that he gave to everyone with his smile and caring and the long funny stories that left you with doubt of the authenticity.

I trust that the memories of happy times together as a family will help you through this difficult time and in the years to come.

With deepest sympathy,

John Youson

Lou and I were postdoctoral fellows at University of Toronto.
I always remember his sense of humor, kindness and strong muscle. Research is always hard and stressful, but his presence made our lab days delightful.
With great sadness.

I am so shocked and extremely saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Lou!

Lou was a Post-Doctor fellow in my lab for a few years. He made several important original discoveries while working in our lab. I still vividly remember Lou’s smile as if it was yesterday. He was a very nice person, a hardworking dedicated scientist, and was always positive with a good sense of humor. Lou will be dearly missed.

May Lou rest in piece with God and may God comfort and bless his family with mercy.

Dear family and relatives of Luciano

I am Elio Orlando, also a son of Antonietta Marra and a direct cousin of Luciano.

With great sadness we have heard of the passing away of Luciano.

Unfortunately we did not know him personally, which we regret very much at this point. From the many nice words we have read we have learned what a wonderful man and father he was.

With our thoughts we are with you and wish you much strength in this difficult time.
