Early Life and Beginnings

Affectionately known as Inez, she was born in Moleson Creek, Corentyne, Guyana, to the late Parbatie (Janny) and Mathura Ramlall. She and her two siblings were raised in Albion. Inez completed her education then trained as a creche nurse and worked at Albion Estate Hospital where she met her late husband, Harry Budhoo. Later she went to Georgetown to continue her nursing studies and returned to Albion where she later married Harry.

A Life of Creativity and Industry

Inez and Harry raised six children across Skeldon, Uitvlugt, Ogle, Kitty and Campbellville. She was the industrious backbone of her household. As a talented seamstress, she meticulously crafted her family’s clothing. Her well-known skills soon led her to sewing for friends and eventually to making surgical gowns and masks for the hospital where Harry worked. She also filled Christmas orders for children's apparel that was sold in a leading Georgetown department store. Her home was decorated with her handiwork of crochet, weaving, tatting, punch needlework and embroidery. Inez’s creativity also led to her homemade cooking sauce being sold in a premier local supermarket.

Resilience and Devotion

Inez highly valued education and faith; a patient teacher she assisted her children with their schoolwork and ensured they were active in church life and continued in the Christian faith. Likewise, she spent early mornings and late nights supporting her husband for his pharmaceutical examinations.

Early widowhood left Inez with six minors and a mortgaged home. She met these difficulties with great strength, resourcefulness and dignity. She singularly managed to nurture her children through their school years with some going onto higher education and all to independent adulthood.

A Legacy of Care in Canada

Inez successfully negotiated those difficult years as a single parent nurturing her children into adulthood. She emigrated to Canada where opportunity allowed her to build a successful independent new life. Here she returned to her healthcare roots and trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She went on to work long hours giving dedicated and compassionate care to seniors until her retirement.

Surviving Family

Inez’s enduring strength lives on through her family:

• Children: Vidya (Vonna), Praddarshnee (Vicky), Jashwant, and Misra Rai (and reunited in faith with her late sons, Nareshwar and Navin Roy).

• Grandchildren: grandmother of fourteen.

• Great-Grandchildren: great-grandmother of three.

Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5, CA, on August 8, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location on August 8, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
