Hi everyone, my name Celine and this is my sister Raquel and were are Marco’s nieces. We want to thank you all for coming and being here today with us and supporting us during these times. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated to the GoFundMe set up for Marco and his family- his reaction when finding out was absolutely priceless!
There are so many words to summarize my zio marco- a friend, a brother, a son, a dad, our zio.
My zio was the guy you’d call whenever you needed something because he always had your back. A good laugh, a movie recommendation, to have a beer, he was your guy- one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet.
As some of you know, he grew up along side his twin brother, my dad Mauro. They were inseparable, and together they were an iconic duo. They did everything together, from djing in their teens, to working together, and staying by each others side as the best of friends, literally till the very end. The laughs, the jokes, the adventures - you wanted to listen and hear all of their stories; all of HIS stories.
My zio was always there for us. the nights he’d come over to hang out with us, my brother julien, my mom and dad. We’d watch leaf games together, always sipping espresso and having a laugh. The summers were the best - going up to Sherkston all together. He was the happiest when he was there with all of us! My favourite memory of them all was the day I turned 19 and the only thing I wanted was to go out to a bar with my dad and zio to have my first legal drink! That is night I will never forget.
We can go on and on about all the memories and stories we have with my zio, but his greatest story of all - his daughters Contessa and Scarlett. Your dad was resilient, he was a fighter and will forever be known as your hero. He did everything for you guys because you meant the absolute world to him. He went through so many hurdles, fighting for you girls and he’ll forever be by your side. He wants you to move forward and live your lives and whenever you’re feeling down, hold your heart, think of him and talk to him; he’ll always be around.
“I’ll always be around” was one of the last things he said to me - and its something i love because he was always around. I can picture him right now up in heaven, next to his dad; my nonno, laughing at us because he said he wanted his celebration of life to be a party- and we know he could party.
Zio, you’re okay now - all the pain is gone. I hope you’re in heaven listening to it takes two by rob base and dj eazy rock, drinking a beer, eating a jack astors burger, and remembering what an amazing, wonderful life you’ve had. You’re forever in our memories, and in our hearts. Life took you from us way too soon but you will never ever be forgotten. We love you forever and always zio!
