

VENMAN, Martin Sr. - 1925 - 2014 Veteran of WWII, RCNVR HMCS Lauzon. Member Todd Morden Lodge 647. 70 year member Royal Canadian Legion, MSM with Palm Leaf (Past President Branch 1, Past District D Commander Provincial Poppy Chairman. Provincial Honours and Awards, Chairman. Ontario Command Rep for Veteran's Comfort Fund - Sunnybrook Hospital. Member of Queen's Park Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee.) Peacefully, after a short illness, with sons by his side. Predeceased by Mary (Newman) wife of 51 years, siblings Mabel, Francis, Tom and Betty. Survived by sons Martin Elgin, Fred (Deb), grandchildren Sandra, Colin, great-grandsons Tevin, Hiero. Greatly missed by partner Denise Pearson and siblings Ellen, Jean and Fred. Martin was proud of his east end roots and at the turn of the century was recognized as one of the most influential east-enders. His dedication to the care and well-being of veterans will serve as an example to all of duty and loyalty beyond the call. A promise unbroken in life. Friends may call at Trull Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 1111 Danforth Avenue (east of Donlands), 416-465-4661, on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel Sunday at 11 a.m. Interment Pine Hills Cemetery, followed by a reception at Pine Hills Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund would be appreciated.
