

Passed away peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital, Wednesday Feb.15, 2012, in her 97th year. Survived by her brother Art Dunsmore of Stratford Ont. Beloved wife of the late A Mackenzie (Mac) Hall. Loving mother to Margaret (Peggy) Hall (deceased), Susan Honderich (Peter), and Ruth Hall (Andy Webb). Proud grandmother of Jessica, Amy, and Mathilda Hall-Cummings, and Nicole and David Honderich. A resident of Christie Gardens Retirement Community, Mary was a vibrant and devoted member of Fairlawn Ave. United Church since 1953. A student of English Literature, with Northrop Frye, Mary graduated from the Toronto Western Hospital School of Nursing (1941), and the University of Toronto's Certificate Program in Public Health Nursing (1943). Mary was a pioneer in community care as the first Homecare Coordinator at Women’s College Hospital and a founding member of Amnesty International (Group 65, Toronto). Mary’s career as a nurse and mother revealed her enormous capacity for caring reflected in her faith and commitment to social justice. Mary will be remembered for her quiet charm and wisdom that left a mark on many friends, family and others. Our sincere thanks to the caring staff of Toronto Western Hospital, and St. Hilda’s Seniors ECP program who helped Mary and family on this last stage of life's journey. Friends and family are invited to share in a celebration of Mary’s life Tuesday Feb. 21st at 1 pm, Fairlawn Ave. United Church, 28 Fairlawn Ave. Visitation at Trull Funeral Home 2704 Yonge Street, Toronto, Monday Feb. 20th, 2 - 4 pm.
