For more than three decades, Mary worked side by side with her beloved husband, Victor Kozak, helping to build the family business, Nick's Delicatessen in East York. To many customers it was more than a place to shop, it was a gathering place filled with friendly conversation.
Mary was first and foremost devoted to her family. Beloved wife of the late Victor, loving mother of Douglas Kozak and Lorraine Hoday (Frank), mother-in-law of Ivonne Kozak, and a proud and joyful grandmother of Ryan Hoday (Lissa), Rachel Hoday (Andrew), Madlyn Kozak, Waverly Kozak, and Jacob Kozak. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her grandchildren, celebrating their milestones and sharing in the simple moments that made life meaningful. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Emmett, Adrian, Ethan, and Logan, whose lives were brightened by her love.
She was the dear sister of the late Fred Musinka (late Patricia) and Patricia Ploenter (Klaus), sister-in-law of John Gartner (Alison), and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom she held close to her heart. Mary was also blessed with a special and treasured friendship with Alexandra Fokine, whose companionship and support meant a great deal to her throughout the years.
Mary will be remembered for her gentle smile, her steadfast faith, her dedication to family and community, and the warmth she shared so freely. Her life was a testament to kindness, service, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the family who carry forward her spirit.
A special thank you to all the staff at True Davidson Acres for all the wonderful care and support during Mary's illness.
A private service will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer Society of Canada.
