Mary Agnes O'Donnell

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Agnes (Maureen) O’Donnell (née Reynolds). Born in Baillieston, Scotland, on 17 October 1938, Maureen died on 18 December 2025 at Scarborough General Hospital, Ontario, from complications of influenza.

Maureen was the eldest child of George and Elizabeth Reynolds, and sister to George, Tom, Catherine, Rita, and Quentin. She was the wife of Patrick Joseph O’Donnell and the mother of three sons: Daniel Paul, George Ciaran, and Quentin Patrick.

She is survived by her brothers Tom and Quentin, her three sons, and her grandchildren Patrick (Bouke), Kaatje, Michael, and Maura-Jane.

Maureen taught primary school for more than thirty years in Glasgow and Toronto, retiring from the Metropolitan Separate (now Toronto District Catholic) School Board as a special-needs teacher and early-reading specialist.

Maureen’s Catholic faith was central to her life. She attended Mass daily for much of her retirement, and as often as possible during her working years. In Canada, her home parishes included the chapel of the Scarborough Retirement Residence, St Thomas More Parish (Scarborough), St Joseph’s Parish (Highland Creek), and St Paul’s Parish (Norwood).

The family is grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Scarborough General Hospital for their compassionate care, and appreciates the many gestures of support from friends and family.

A Funeral Service will be held at Saint Maria Goretti Parish, located at 717 Kennedy Rd, Toronto, ON, M1K 3N8, Canada, on January 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Following the funeral, a Committal Service will take place at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, located at 7770 Steeles Ave E, Markham, ON, L6B 1A8, Canada, on January 7, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

St Maria Goretti is closely associated with the Scarborough Retirement Residence and St Maria Goretti Catholic School, where Maureen taught for several years during her long career.
