My heart is broken, but I rejoice knowing you are with your Heavenly Father. Love you so much aunt May. Still remember you buying me my first Mickey Mouse earrings and necklace. My first doll, Sadie and making her dresses. Bringing Tiffany to play with me when we were kids. I also remember how much you loved my daddy. There's not enough words to tell you thank you or how much we loved you. Until we see each other again.

Mavis and my mother were very close friends when they worked at Stitsky's together, many years ago. I will always, always remember her gentle voice, her smile, her laugh, her hugs and the way that she and my mom, Gisela Hackenberg, provided friendship and support to each other. My mother passed in 1990. I lost contact with her friends and co-workers after that. When I've gone down memory lane, Mavis is always there in my heart. Not remembering her last name prevented me from finding her to see how she was doing.
Fast forward to this past weekend. Having just come from the cemetery to pay a visit to both my parents, I poured a coffee, opened up the Saturday Star and browsed each section, including the obituaries. And there Mavis Hasley was - just as I had remembered her. My heart filled with sadness and regret. I wish I had been able to see her one more time. To know Mavis was to love Mavis. I am so very grateful that am able to share my memory of a woman who I hope was loved as much as she loved back. Rest In Peace. <3 <3
