Michael Paul Lewis

Born in Batchewana First Nation, Sault Ste. Marie, Michael passed away at Toronto General Hospital, surrounded by family and loved ones.

He was a pipe carrier, spiritual leader, elder, and respected community member whose teachings and presence touched many lives.

Michael was the beloved husband of Minipreet Bhatia and devoted father of Atreyu Lewis. He was the son of the late Ernie Lewis and Patricia Porte, and dearly departed brother of Maureen Lewis, Don Shaule, Wayne Lewis, Arnold Lewis, and Maurice Gervais.

He was a beloved uncle to Joney Porte, Jomie Lewis, and Rob Forrester

Michael will be remembered for his exceptionally kind, funny, and caring spirit, his powerful personality, and the love he shared with his family and community.

He loved spending time with his family, watching sports, documentaries, and old movies, listening to music, attending ceremonies, animals-especially his family dog, Loki and enjoying his favourite foods.

Above all, Michael will be deeply remembered for the teachings he shared with his daughter and for passing on the Ojibwe ways of life.

Michael is now reunited with his brothers, the late Arnold and Joseph Lewis
