Much beloved son of Anne Moran, and the late Tom Moran of Ottawa. Beloved husband of Wendy M.L.Misener of Toronto. Mike is survived by his sons Thomas Moran (Jill Paterson) of Owen Sound, and Colin Moran of Toronto, and his daughter Christine Moran of Cornwall, and his five much-loved grandchildren, Hazel and Robyn of Owen Sound and Michael, Danielle and Cameron of Cornwall.
Born in Paris, France, Mike grew up in Ottawa. Most of his adult life was spent in Toronto where he worked as a direct mail specialist and latterly as a newsletter publisher, gallery owner and photographic shop owner. His entrepreneurial spirit permeated his life, and he created businesses, providing jobs and opportunities for others. He acted as Board President of the Geneva Centre for Autism for several years, focusing on community inclusion and unlocking opportunities for children with autism. Laterally he provided consultative support for a developing green-energy source and was looking for opportunities to help the unhoused. Mike had a big brain and a big heart, and he was always thinking of ways to help others and to share all the good things he envisaged and created, with those around him. He forged connections with friends, colleagues, and neighbours that lasted all his life. His passing has left us bereft, but his life has left us inspired.
Cremation has taken place. Celebrations of life will be held in Ottawa and Toronto in November. Donations in Mike’s memory can be made to the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation.
Condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.jerrettfuneralhome.ca.
