Rev. Norman Joseph Fitzpatrick, C.S.B.

Peacefully with his fellow Basilian Fathers at Anglin House on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Fr. Norm was born in Toronto and predeceased by his parents Leo Fitzpatrick and Anna McManamon. He attended Holy Rosary Elementary School, Del La Salle, Oaklands for High School and the University of Toronto where he obtained his BA. He entered the Congregation of St. Basil and was professed on August 15, 1951 and ordained on June 29, 1955. In 1956 he was assigned to St. Michael’s College School in Toronto for 30 years during which time he taught French, directed school musicals and plays of almost professional quality and served as Principal for 17 years. After a sabbatical he was a Director of Education from 1989 to 1995 at the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, Wilcox SK. In 1998 he retired in Toronto at Soulerin House with his fellow Basilians. Father Norm was a gentleman, always gracious, thoughtful of others and composed. He is missed by his fellow Basilians, his sister Elaine and his many relatives. He was predeceased by his sister Edna and brothers John, Leo and Robert. In the Chapel of the Cardinal Flahiff Basilian Centre, 95 St. Joseph Street, Toronto, there will be a Wake Service at 7:30 PM on Friday, February 20, 2015 and also his Funeral Mass at 10 AM, Saturday, February 21. Visitation will be held in the Chapel one hour before each of these services. Burial will be at the Basilian plot at Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill, ON. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Basilian Fathers Retirement Fund, 95 St. Joseph Street, Toronto, ON M5S 3C2.
