Dear Zio Nunzio,
I have struggled to find the words to describe what an incredible man you were. This is partly out of fear of not doing you justice, but it is also because writing these words means you are no longer with us.  As hard as this is to process, I take some comfort in knowing that your memory lives on. It lives on through countless memories on dance floors at parties, at family picnics, and holidays at Nonna and Nonno’s. It lives on through every house you built with your father, brothers, nephews, and so many others. Most of all, your memory lives on through the beautiful family you created with Zia Mimma...your children Isabella, Nicholas and Lucas. My sweet cousin, Nunzio.  On my dad’s 65th birthday poster you wrote “Zio, you are one of the good ones”.  They say it takes one to know one.  You always showed so much love and respect for my parents.  I hope you knew how much they loved and admired you too.  Sunday night visits until the wee hours of the morning, hanging out in the basement or on the street, Queens Drive was the place to be.  Neighbours gathered, stories were shared with lots and lots of laughter.  You, Nazz, Gerri and Bernie were inseparable.  You were cousins by blood, friends by choice.  Anna and I were much younger but somehow we fit right in.  Zia always had a pizza in the oven and a batch of your favourite cookies because no visit was complete without those.  While we ask where have the years gone, memories like these take us back to the very moment, so vividly.  Sadly, your time with us on earth has passed, but in our hearts and thoughts, you are very much with us.  You always will be.  We love you.

He was always joyful, attentive, kind and generous. He had such a way with kids, even when he was young. I’ll never forget the impact his wild, long hair had on Sara when she was little, she’d always run away but keep peeking back to see where he was. I remember him at the festas always friendly and making sure everyone had what they needed, always ready to share what he had. His beautiful laugh, his sense of humour will be missed. RIP Nunz.

I remember Nunzio so fondly from my childhood. Mimma, I remember when you started dating him and when you guys would babysit us at our old house on Tonon. He would help us play my parents old stereo system. I remember your wedding day like it was yesterday, you guys dancing your first dance with all of us circling you. Amanda as your flower girl. I remember how proud and happy he was when Isabella was born. She was so little in his arms. I remember remember we came to visit her at your old house. Such beautiful moments I will remember with a smile.

I'm so saddened to hear of his passing. He was too young. May you all find comfort in your memories with him and feel his love upon you always.
