I worked with Ortrud at West Park Hospital.  She was stellar. When I met her she was a coordinator.  She was extremely supportive as this was a newer role for me. Her sister, Irma, was wonderful, also.  Got lots of great mentorship. She never wanted to finish a chocolate bar so we shared it.  So many fond memories. Rest In Peace, sweet lady. Dear beloved mother Ortrud,
It’s still hard to believe you’re no longer with us on this earth. Each time I see your photos, your beautiful smile shines with warmth, and I can sense your loving soul behind it. Your grace was not just in your appearance, but in your spirit—kind, care, and full of love.
I first met you 10 years ago when you began volunteering at the st.  Clair o'connor long-term care home. You selflessly helped vulnerable residents go on outings, saying, “They deserve fresh air, to feel the breeze, and to see nature.” You were always their voice and advocate, standing up for their needs with quiet strength.
You gave your hands and heart to bring dignity and joy—whether through making blankets, organizing fundraising events, and volunteering there with love and support in programs/activities. You used your gifts to care deeply for residents and never hesitated to give where they were needed most.
Your smile, and your clear, compassionate eyes. You saw people. You saw me. In my struggles, you never judged—you listened, comforted, and embraced me as your own. You reminded me I was loved. When I was discouraged, you encouraged me to take my time and trust myself.
Knowing you as a mother, mentor, and friend has been one of life’s greatest blessings. Your presence lives on in all those you touched, and your love remains in my heart—forever.

Liebe Ortrud du warst mir die liebste und die allerbeste die ein Ehemann sich vorstellen kann.Du wirst mir nach all den 56 jähren noch lange im herzen liegen.Aber mit Gottes hilfe und siein Dasein werden und müssen wir alle damit leben. So ich verbleibe mit Deinen Gedanken für immer Dein lieber und stiller Oscar für alle Ewigkeit .Bis wir uns wieder sehen.

Our sincere heartfelt condolences to Michael, Liz, Ollie and Buchholz family.  Michael had a close relationship with his mother  and I remember numerous occasions where he talked about his regular zoom calls with her. I wish her peace and hope the family has the strength to reconcile to this loss.
