In the Care of Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother, Pamela Behrend, at the age of 90, Toronto, Canada. Predeceased by her Husband, Rolf, in October 2023.
Pamela was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. The only child to Fred and Gladys Davidson. Predeceased by her husband Rolf, in October 2023. So fortunate to have enjoyed a wonderful marriage that lasted for 64 years. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her four children Graham, Roy and twins John and Claire Barker (Doug). Mom put everything into living life to give us many years of fantastic memories.
Pamela was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. A wonderful childhood growing up in Park Wood. Attended Rosebank Convent Girls School. A talented Ballet Dancer in her youth, included performances in The White Swan. Trigger, a spaniel, her dog as she grew up.
Mom met Dad through the activities of Zoo Lake Swimming Pools. They were married in 1959. The mother to four children, school events and kids activities kept mom busy in South Africa. Fond memories of family summer holidays at the coast. Mom loved the beach and swimming in the sea.
In 1972 Sandy dog was added to the family. Sandy was Mom’s dog.
In 1976 the family, including Sandy, moved to Toronto, Ontario. Mom and Dad bought the house on Chisholm Ave, a house of their own for their family. Each summer, gardening with Dad, they created and enjoyed a beautiful English garden around the house.
For many years Mom worked as a head cook for the Toronto School Board.
Mom had to keep busy. When she retired, she worked as a crossing guard for several years. Then volunteered at Toronto East General Hospital.
At home she loved cooking and Baking. There were always treats at home. Knitting, quilting and folk-art were also on her list of activities.
Mom’s four kids, Graham, Roy, John and Clare were her greatest joy. We have a lifetime of great memories, running us to school in S.A. A box of recipes for baking treats, muffins, crunchies, and cakes. The Christmas cake was a ritual each year. Fantastic summer holidays at the coast in Port Elizabeth.
In retirement Mom enjoyed holidays with Dad to England and Europe with Roy and Western Canada with Graham. She loved the English countryside and the Mountains in Alberta and B.C. On one trip, seeing a grizzly bear along the road was a cherished memory.
Mom, Thanks for putting everything into living a long life. Giving us a house to call home.
Love you ‘Tons’. Remember you forever and always. Your four children Graham, Roy, John and Claire.
