Patricia Ann Ryder

She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Dr. Donald Eric Ryder who predeceased her in 2017.

Loving mother of Diane Ryder MacGillis (Murray), Christine (Rick Nesbitt) and David. Proud Grandmother “Grammy” to Sean MacGillis and Kelly MacGillis (Nick Wilson). She was predeceased by her mother, Sarah Picard (Maroney), father Aquila Picard, and sister Ray Picard.

Born and raised in Montreal, Patricia met the love of her life on a blind date in Aylmer, Ontario, where Don was stationed with the RCAF. They soon married and moved to Toronto where Don started his career as a Pathologist at Women’s College Hospital.

Patricia was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a woman of faith. She also had a zest for life and loved to cook and entertain family, friends and colleagues. She enjoyed curling, tennis and bridge and she and Don were active and supportive members of the Granite Club in Toronto for decades.

Patricia also had a deep love for travel, history and the arts. In fact, she was a talented artist herself and her paintings will forever provide joy to their beholders.

The family is very grateful to all the wonderful staff at Harmony Hills Community Care for the excellent care, love and attention Patricia received while there for almost 10 years. Special thanks to Alicia, her personal PSW, as you lovingly cared for our mother the past several years of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Donations in Patricia’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.

And, as Mum would always say at the end of the day, “Night Night God Bless”.
