

Friedrich Paul “Miguel” Michel, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in San Jose, Costa Rica. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Jasmine Daanis Michel, Adrian Jakob Michel-Goulais and their mother Billie-Jo Goulais. Missed by brother Jakob Michel (Burgi), nieces Vanessa and Melanie, and nephew Michael Kluge, of Germany, who lovingly called him Uncle Friedi.
Paul was predeceased by his mother, Maria Valeria Garai Michel, his father, Jakob Michel, and his sister Irene.
Paul trained as an electrician and he went on to enjoy a long career as a Lighting Technician in the film industry in Germany and Canada. He was a long time member of local union NABET and IATSE where he worked on films and television series. His life's work included films with Robert DeNiro, Donald Sutherland and Stanley Tucci, to name just a few.
Music was important to Paul, he played guitar, bass and keyboard and he always had a crew band playing on set during lunch and dinner breaks. His pride and joy was sharing his love of music with his children and having family jam sessions.
Paul enjoyed travelling all over the world and experiencing different cultures. He first visited Costa Rica in 1993 and he enjoyed the people, the culture, the land and of course the climate. He purchased land a year later and spent many winters working on the land and later building a house for his family to enjoy. Paul had deep respect for the land and the people of Costa Rica, he always said they were the most hospitable people in the world.
Friends and family will be received at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home on Sunday March 16, 2025 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. for visitation followed by a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home chapel.
