Richard, 70, Toronto, died peacefully, with family by his side, at 3:15 p.m., Wednesday November 28, 2018, in Michael Garron Hospital, after a short battle with cancer.
Richard was born June 17, 1948, in Kingston Ontario. He was a world traveler, and moved overseas in the mid 70s, and finally took resident in Senegal, Africa.
Oldest of 10 children, he is survived by five siblings, Laura Marchand, Belleville; Susan Scott, Kingston; Joe and Mark, Edmonton; and Rob, Toronto; and his African family – Athanase Ndong, Rosalie, Jolie, Richard, Senegal; and Prima (Montreal).
He is preceded in death by parents, Joseph Charles and Jean Marchand, and siblings, Michael, Edmonton; Paul, Kingston, Kathy Young, Kingston, and Linda Marchand, Kingston.
His wish was to be cremated, and his ashes will return to his home in Senegal, and birth place Kingston. A ceremony will be held in Senegal, and a mass at a future date in Toronto.
Richard leaves legacy of helping others, especially in the world of education, and therefore it is our wish to honour him as such, therefore contributions in memory of Richard may be made PATHWAYS TO EDUCATION CANADA, charity.
