Robert Leonard Pineault

The first of three boys born to Henry Pineault and Ruby Sidey. His parents and brothers Rick and Billy predeceased him. Rob is survived by 5 children, Colin, Hugh (Candice), Angela, Robert and Andrew (Courtney McGraw) plus several grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by his long-time best friend Debi Eatherley.

Rob was a passionate man with many interests. Firstly, Rob was a man of God who wanted nothing more than to go to heaven and hoped that you, whoever you were, would be joining him there.

The history of Toronto was one of his main interests, especially that of its public and private transit systems. He belonged to clubs that studied the transit and rail history in and around Toronto and he possessed an encyclopedic knowledge about old buses, streetcars and subway cars no longer operating in Toronto. Friends would frequently call him up with arcane questions such as was there ever a loop at a particular intersection and when did it disappear. To his buddies in the hobby he was Bob. But to the rest of us he was Rob or Robby.

It is more than a little ironic that Rob passed away the morning that the Eglinton LRT finally opened. Before that, when the news announced yet another delay regarding the opening of the line, he would comment that it was taking so long that, "I will be dead before it opens". If you knew Rob (or Bob) you know how funny that is.

A visitation will be held at Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 467 Sherbourne Street, Toronto, Ontario, M4X 1K5, Canada, on March 26, 2026, at 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
