She is survived by her partner of 42 years, Jackie Robinson, their son Andrew (Laura), and granddaughter Everly Potts. She also leaves 2 half siblings, Michael and Linda, and a step brother, Blake Anderson in South Africa. She also leaves her beloved last rescue dog, Taschi.
Lee was born on August 21, 1938 in Fishhoek South Africa to Isobel Harrup and Harry (Bunny) Potts. Her father promptly left to fight in WWII in North Africa, leaving Lee and her mother in Johannesburg. After matriculating form Johannesburg High School for Girls, Lee trained as a radiographer and worked in several commonwealth countries before settling in Canada in 1959.
At night school Lee qualified in the brand new field of Information Technology and got a job at Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto, where she stayed for almost 30 happy years and made enduring friends. Once she retired, her health declined rapidly, with neuropathy preventing her from playing golf and tennis and moving around freely. Her lifelong passions were books, sports and dogs. She was rereading the Outlander series and watching the Blue Jays right until her last day.
In October 2021 Lee went to Providence Healthcare in the palliative unit. At the end of last August she moved to Ina Grafton Gage Home. The family thanks IGGH for being extremely accommodating and trying their best to provide the extra care Lee needed. They also thank Dr. Brodie and the Palliative Unit at Providence where Lee received outstanding care. Special thanks go to her nurse, Winsome, who every day worked hard to improve her care and her quality of life.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Giffen-Mack & Trull Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave. on October 15th, 2022 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Toronto to Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
