As a much older cousin, I never got to know him as an adult.  I remember my mother, Henrietta (Hannah) Dean Alter keeping in touch with him, but I missed him as our youngest cousin.

I'd like to know more about his nuclear family and allow the few remaining descendants of our mutual grandparents (Joseph & Lottie Dean) to know more about Ross.  I'd also like the rest of his family to know more about his father and my fun Uncle Art.

Dear Gigi, it was nice meeting you and your family today at Ross's memorial, albeit through Zoom.

I found out about Ross's passing through an email from St.Silouan Orthodox church, dated February 19, 2025.

Here is the information I found:

"For the repose of the soul of Ross

Dear beloved in Christ,

Ross, a cherished brother of our community, passed away suddenly this past week due to health complications. He was a longtime members in our Noble Joseph House hospitality meals, visiting almost weekly and making himself at home in our mission-parish. Though he could be a bit prickly at times, he was equally known for his deep commitment to helping those around him—always advocating for their needs in any way he could. Ross was one of our own, and we will miss him dearly.


A memorial was held last Monday evening. In his honor, Jolene and Fran baked a cake, and our community—Orthodox faithful and others—gathered to pray for him.


May the Lord grant him rest among the saints, and may his memory be eternal."
