Shane Phillip James Edward Walker

Shane was born in Toronto, Ontario, on March 24 1979 to Bonnie Jean Walker and Phillip Andrews, both of whom predeceased him.

He was also predeceased by his cousin, Malissa Gibbs.

A loving father, stepfather, and grandfather, Shane leaves behind his son, Tyson Donovan (Kayla), and cherished grandchildren, Izaiah and Nevaya. He is also lovingly remembered by his stepsons, Tyler Donovan (Carolee), parents to Caullani and Teyan, and Willy Donovan (Jessica), parents to Jayden and Kaleah.

Shane is survived by his sister, Jena McTavish (Mandy Walker), as well as his cousins Chrissy Froude, Tammy Brown, Michael Walker, Michelle Walker, Ellie Rye, Robert Walker, Lyndon, Trevor, and Lincoln.

He will be affectionately remembered by his aunts and uncles: Christine Walker (Michael), Lynn Kermack, Daniel “Danny” Walker, Robert “Bobby” Walker, Heather Walker, and Anthony “Tony” Walker. Shane also leaves behind a large extended family, including countless second and third cousins.

Shane had a remarkable gift for making people feel valued. Whether offering encouragement, a compliment, or simply a listening ear, he had a way with words that could make someone feel like a million dollars. His capacity to love and care for others was unmatched. He could often be found helping someone he had only just met, expecting nothing in return.

His thoughtfulness, generosity, and childlike spirit endeared him to everyone who knew him. His hyper and whirlwind personality filled every room he entered. Family and friends will fondly remember him arriving with excitement and enthusiasm, eager to share a new business idea that had come to him on the way over. Bringing unexpected gifts, paying for someone’s expense, or finding ways to brighten another person’s day were acts of kindness that came naturally to him.

Shane’s boundless energy often kept his mother worried, as he was always on the move. Yet when he was home, the two shared a special bond and were truly best friends. They frequently corresponded through handwritten letters, signing them, “Love always, your best friend and son” or “Love always, your best friend and mother.”

A devoted fan of Toronto teams, Shane proudly wore Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, and Toronto Blue Jays gear wherever he went. His immense love for the city of Toronto, combined with his support of local rap artists and culture, earned him the nickname “City,” a name that stayed with him throughout his life.

Shane was also an avid follower of Days of Our Lives, a consistent creator of mischief, and a fierce protector of those he loved. A self-made entrepreneur, he always found creative ways to earn a living, but what truly set him apart was his generosity. He gave freely and often, whether to close family, lifelong friends, or complete strangers.

Even as a teenager, Shane was known for bringing homeless individuals home to provide them with a shower, food and his own clothing. His compassion and generosity attracted many loyal, lifelong friendships, and he affectionately referred to many of those friends simply as “brother.”

As we mourn Shane’s passing, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind. His energetic spirit, generous heart, unwavering loyalty, and unique way of loving others will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON, M1K2B5, CA, on June 23, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON, M1K2B5, CA, on June 23, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
