Sheila Shewchuk

Sheila’s journey in this life began on January 4,1949 when she was born in Bayreuth, Germany to proud parents Katherine and Peter Shewchuk. Her excited sister, Olga, couldn’t wait to meet her new playmate who would become a fun and loving companion for life.The following year the family immigrated to Canada and settled in Cooksville, now part of Mississauga. Sheila’s childhood and early adulthood were spent in Mississauga. After graduating from high school, she attended Teachers’ College and went on to become an elementary school teacher at Havenwood Public School in Mississauga. Learning was always important to Sheila prompting her to advance her own education by earning an honours B.A. degree from the University of Toronto (St. George Campus). Later Sheila accepted a new challenge at the Certified General Accountants institution where she worked with mature students as Student Advisor for over thirty years. She loved helping students to achieve their professional goals. In recognition for her contribution to CGA she was awarded the Ontario Distinguished Service Award 2003.Sheila’s biggest passion in life was to travel to new places and meet new people. She left her mark on countries such as China, Egypt, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Finland and Russia just to name a few. Sadly, Sheila’s life journey came to a close on January 6, 2025. She leaves behind her heartbroken sister Olga Bayliss, her nieces Alexandra Bayliss and Dania Shewchuk and her nephew Michael Shewchuk. Although we are devastated by her passing, we take comfort in knowing Sheila has just started a new trip…her everlasting spiritual journey.

A visitation for Sheila will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from

11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Giffen-Mack & Trull Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave., Toronto. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM, 2570 Danforth Ave., Toronto. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mt Pleasant Road, Toronto.
