

Sister Vivina (Dorothea) Deck, I.B.V.M. died peacefully at Loretto Infirmary, Toronto, on March 31st, 2015, in her 100th year of age and 82nd year as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters). Sister Vivina is predeceased by her parents Aloysius Deck and Theresia Zerr, step-mother Leogadia Koch, sisters Maria, Helen (Ernest) Sherrin, Anne (Clement) Baumtrog, Sr. Mary Judith, IBVM, Sr. Rosa, IBVM, Ottilia Resch, Mary Frei, Cecilia Deck; brothers Jack Scharger, Michael, Peter, Joseph, Adam, Aloysius and brothers-in-law Peter Gelsinger, Anton Schlosser and Ian McCreesh. She is survived by sisters Katherine Gelsinger, Theresa Schlosser, Elizabeth (Andrew) Ortman, Eve McCreesh, brothers Joseph, John (Gerry, and Adam (Edna) and by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Sister Vivina was a teacher in Toronto, Sioux Lookout, Hamilton, Guelph, Stratford, Niagara Falls, Vancouver, Regina and Weyburn for a total of 40 years. She then served as parish assistant in Weyburn for ten years. Friends may call at Loretto Abbey, 101 Mason Blvd, on April 6th 2015, 1.30-2.30 and 7:00-8.30 p.m. Prayers will be at 7.30 p.m. on the same day. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Loretto Abbey Chapel, on Tuesday April 7, 2015, at 11 am followed by Interment at Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery.
