William George Knowles

June 3, 1934 – May 9, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Knowles, who departed this life after a short health battle on May 9, 2025, at the age of 90.

Bill was born on June 3, 1934, in Toronto, Ontario. Throughout his career as a dedicated electrical screener, he was respected for his reliability, keen attention to detail, and friendly manner. Outside of work, he enjoyed cycling, skiing, and spending time with friends on outings and at social events. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.

A devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend, Bill is predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Joyce, whom he loved dearly. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Ron Knowles, his sister-in-law Eleanor Sturge, his niece Charlene Betty (Donovan), his great nieces Kayla and Seija Wainwright, his dear friend Wanda Gomes, his son Darryl Knowles, and many extended family and friends.

A visitation will take place at 11:00 a.m., followed by a remembrance service at 12:00 pm on Friday May 16 at Giffen Mack Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave, Toronto. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life.

A special thank you to the medical team at Unity Health Toronto (St. Michael’s Hospital) for their exceptional care of Bill during his final days.

Bill lived with warmth, curiosity, and quiet determination. He found meaning in the everyday and joy in the simple moments. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
