

1914--2017
Passed away peacefully on March 20, 2017 in her 103rd year. Born in
Winnipeg on October 13, 1914, Winnifred May Goodaire (nee Springett),
youngest child of Rosina Jane Barleyman and the Reverend Ernest
James Springett. Predeceased by her parents, four siblings
Ernest, Violet, Marjory and Joan, and
her beloved husband Edgar. Leaving to mourn two sons
Edgar (Madonna) and David (Pamela), two grandsons Timothy (Sarah) and
Mark (Annie) and one great granddaughter Sydney Kristina.
Winnifred led a full life. She loved the English language
and was an Associate of Trinity College London. She taught
public speaking and dramatic art, worked for the Blue Cross
in Ottawa during WWII and later for Bell Telephone. She
was an accomplished actress, a founding member of ACTRA, and
worked on both radio and television. First and foremost
a deeply committed Christian and active churchwoman, she
started Anglican Church Women at St. Clement's Eglinton, Toronto,
was its first President and also the second Diocesan ACW President.
She was the inspiration behind a College of Preaching which
continues at St. Clements to this day. She was unfailingly loyal.
She cared for and defended her husband and sons with passion.
She was a wonderful person, wife and mother.
The family would like to thank the great staff at Winbourne Place
for their care and compassion over the past nine years.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held
at St. Clements Anglican Church, 70 St. Clements Avenue, at 11 a.m.
Thursday March 23. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
St. Clements College of Preaching would make the family very happy
