
Goss, Arthur Edward, "Art" an 85 year resident of the South Bay and resident of Redondo Beach since 1923, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in Torrance. Born in Buhl, Idaho, Art was 94 when he died. He attended St. James Grammer School and Redondo Union High School. Art had served with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, and was part of the campaign which travelled from North Africa through Italy to France. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church of Redondo Beach, the American Legion Post Eagles Lodge 184 of Redondo Beach, and the Elks Lodge 1378 of Redondo Beach. Art worked for Sears Roebuck & Co for 35 years. He was an avid golfer, belonged to a bowling league, and was a fan of the Los Angeles Rams. He also travelled extensively.
He is survived by his son, James "Tom" Hicks of Pismo Beach, CA; sister, Pauline McKinley of El Segundo, CA; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 30 years, Evelyn Goss; his first wife of almost 30 years, Frances Goss; and his parents, Julia and Walter Goss.
A gathering of family & friends will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Friday November 7, 2008 from 4 to 8pm. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City on Saturday at 11am.
