October 12, 1946 – June 27, 2025
Ms. Baby Sarojini Pinnamaneni was born on October 12, 1946, in Kurumaddali, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India, at the home of her maternal grandparents. She was the beloved daughter of Mr. Chalasani Perrayya and Mrs. Srikrishnamma. At the age of three months, Sarojini moved with her parents to Bhatlapenumarru, a remote village in Movva Mandal of Krishna District, where she spent her childhood along with her four siblings.
After completing her 10th standard, Sarojini relocated with her family to Bandar (Machilipatnam) and pursued her Pre-University Course (PUC) in college. She later married her maternal uncle, Sri Pinnamaneni Koteswara Rao, a medical student at Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada. Following her marriage, Sarojini moved to Kakinada, where she embraced the role of a homemaker and gave birth to their first son, Mr. Subba Rao Pinnamaneni.
The couple later relocated to Hyderabad, Telangana, for her husband's further education and work. During his deputation to the Army Hospital in Pune, Sarojini gave birth to their daughter, Mamatha Pinnamaneni. When Mamatha turned nine, the family returned to Hyderabad.
Sarojini later gave birth to their youngest son, Pinnamaneni Rajani Chandra. Due to her husband’s professional commitments, the family moved across various cities in Andhra Pradesh, including Guntur (GMC), Kurnool (KMC), Kakinada (RMC), Vijayawada (University of Health Sciences), and Tirupati (SVMC). Dr. Koteswara Rao eventually retired as Chief Coroner from Guntur Medical College in April.
Their children went on to establish careers in diverse fields—Subba Rao in electronics and computer engineering in the U.S., Mamatha in social work, and Rajani Chandra as a physician after completing his MBBS from Guntur Medical College.
In the month following her husband's retirement, Sarojini relocated with him to the United States under an Extraordinary Ability Visa. Life in the U.S. brought its own challenges, especially in the early months. Her husband began working as a foster care social worker at the Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles, eventually retiring due to health reasons.
In the year 2000, both her elder son and daughter were married six months apart. Sarojini and her husband proudly performed their daughter’s wedding, fulfilling her wish to have both parents present.
Despite being a homemaker who rarely ventured out alone, Sarojini showed remarkable courage and resilience after her husband fell seriously ill. With all her children abroad, she rose to the occasion, completed her GED, and earned certification courses at the age of 60, preparing herself to support the family if needed.
Her daughter, Mamatha, upheld her father’s wish to keep the family together in the U.S., eventually taking over the responsibility of care for both her parents. After the passing of her husband on April 20, 2007, Sarojini continued to live under Mamatha’s care. Her youngest son returned to Trindad after performing his father's final rites, awaiting his family-based green card.
In later years, Sarojini spent time between the U.S. and India, continuing to play an active role in her family’s life. She performed her youngest son’s wedding in Tirupati and traveled between the two countries until April 2024.
In March 2024, Sarojini was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She underwent surgery in May and received post-operative care at Sunnyside Nursing and Post-Acute Care in Torrance, CA, under the loving supervision of her daughter. Her youngest son also joined in between one week or two and supported her during her final month by working remotely. Her younger daughter-in-law joined on long weekends and Son-in-law supported mamatha in taking care of her and did needful with staying together. Her older son and daughter-in-law visited her while she was visiting india.
Ms. Sarojini Pinnamaneni was known for her strength, warmth, and unconditional love. She touched the lives of many and was deeply cherished by all who knew her.
She passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
