Beverly Smith Wishon

Beverly Smith Wishon died in her home in Manhattan Beach, California on January, 20 2009, at the age of 59. She had battled lymphoma for 9 months. She is survived by her parents, L. Eugene and Jean Smith, husband Glenn Wishon MD, her daughter Brittlyn White, her son Ryan White, sister Luann Smith, brother Samuel Smith, grandson Jacob Salazar, and step-sons Gregory and Mark Wishon.

Beverly was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from high school in 1967. She attended college at Indiana, Pennsylvania and the State University of NY in Syracuse, where she obtained her nursing degree in 1974. She worked as a registered nurse at several hospitals in Southern California before accepting an administrative position with South Bay Family Medical Group in Redondo Beach in 1988. In 1994 she assumed administrative positions for Little Company of Mary Hospital, working in the outpatient department, radiology, women's health, operating room, and business development. In 2007 she obtained accreditation in Medical Staff Services and assumed directorship of the Medical Staff Office at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, Torrance.

Beverly was a devoted mother, adoring wife, and doting grandmother. She is beloved by friends and co-workers throughout the South Bay and beyond. Every life she has touched has been made better by it.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 3:30 PM at American Martyrs Catholic Church, in Manhattan Beach, CA.
