
Eileen Flynn a 45-year resident of Torrance, passed away on August 9, 2005. She was born Edith Eileen Gatliff February 6, 1933 on Beaver Island, Michigan. She was the seventh of thirteen children born to Mary & Thomas Gatliff. Eileen was 72 when she died. She was married almost 50 years to Thomas M. Flynn. Eileen worked for Marshall Field’s in Chicago before becoming a full-time wife and mother. The couple moved to California in 1960. Eileen was a member of the Catholic Golden Age Club and enjoyed their trips to the casinos to play the slots. She loved to cook and bake and was a fan of crossword puzzles and Judge Judy. Eileen especially loved to laugh. She adored her family, her sisters, her many nieces and nephews and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her Husband, Tom, Daughter, Barbara Flynn of Nokomis, FL, Daughter, Marypat & Son-in-Law Joseph Pena, of Burbank, CA, and Grandchildren Matthew, Amanda & Brian Basnight of Nokomis, FL and Kyle & Molly Pena of Burbank, CA. Her surviving sisters include Grace Doig of Chicago, Audrey Smallwood of Cheboygan, MI, Kathleen (Glenn) Wood of Beaver Island, MI and Anne (Bayard) Kurth of St. Clair Shores, MI. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Monday, August 15, 2005 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 1:30 PM. A reception will follow. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on Beaver Island, Michigan.
