Elliott Asel Smith III

He is survived by his beloved wife Somaya Smith of Redondo Beach, CA; Daughter, Kimberly (Dennis) Hampton of Irvine, CA, Son; Elliott (Patty) Smith of Bakersfield, CA; Son, Jason Smith of Bakersfield, CA; Daughter, Jessica (Neil) Towery of Bakersfield, CA; Son, Sammy (Lindsey) Ibrahim of Parkville, MD; Son, Adam Ibrahim of El Segundo, CA; Grandchildren Jennifer Hampton, Jeremy Hampton, Sarah Heath, Jacob Smith, Rachael Smith, Tadden Towery, and Maverick Towery, Elliott is preceded in death by his Father, Elliott A. Smith, Jr.; his Mother, Mary Jo Quaresma; and his Sister, Jill Young.

Growing up as a young man he fell in love with the beach with all it had to offer and always loved his fast cars. Throughout his life he built and showed classic hotrods as a hobby, placing nationally and often coming out on top locally. After moving away from the beach, Elliott was introduced to the mountains where hunting and fishing became one of his favorite getaways. After retiring he decided to return to the South Bay, getting back to his roots and allowing he and his wife to care for his aging mother. In retirement he and Somaya did much traveling: Russia, France, Monaco, Egypt, and a number of the States kept them on the move.

He was a person devoted to his wife and family and loved to spoil his grandchildren. He looked for opportunities to listen and support others in their lives. He is loved for who he is, was, and will become. All are grateful for the short time they shared with him. In memory we remember the love and life of Elliott A. Smith III.

Smith, Elliott Asel, an almost 45 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2006 in Torrance.

A Graveside Service will be held at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach on Saturday July 8, 2006 at 1pm. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Lighthouse Reception Room at Rice Mortuary in Torrance.
