Gilberto Romero Gonzalez

Gonzalez, Gilberto Romero, a 45 year resident of the South Bay, passed away in his home in Gardena, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, September 23, 2011. Born in Tepatitlan, Mexico, Gilberto was 64 when he lost his battle to lung cancer. Gilberto was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Gardena. His job as a self employed plumber brought him so much joy and his customers benefited from his knowledge and professionalism. Gilberto was an Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony's church and a member of the church choir. He loved to sing, a talent he shared with his children and friends. Gilberto was one of 17 children born to Joseana and Maria Gonzalez. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Tere Gonzalez of Gardena, CA; daughter, Blanca (Jesus) Chavez of Gardena, CA; daughter, Tere (Cuco) Perez of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Socorro Gonzalez of Gardena, CA; son, Gilberto Gonzalez Jr. of Gardena, CA; son-in-law, Juvenal Perez of Las Vegas, NV; and six grandchildren, Blanquita (18), Joey (18), Jessie (15), Jasmine (14), Roberto (13) & Jo Jo ( 2). He was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter, Cuquita Perez. A gathering of family & friends will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Gardena on Monday September 26, 2011 from 4 to 9pm, with a Rosary at 7pm. The Service will be held the next day at the church at 10am, followed by burial at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife.
