Gloria Velazquez Barreno

Gloria was born on April1, 1955, in Venice, CA to Rosendo and Maria. Her father was in the Aerospace industry in Santa Monica & Culver Cty, CA. Her mother was a Homemaker raising 6 children.

Gloria first met Raymond in Junior High, although Raymond noticed Gloria in Junior High she didn't notice him until High School. They fell in love and married in 1971 and together they raised a strong family with 4 strapping boys. Gloria loved the city life she enjoyed living in the Southbay area, she was drawn to the beach atmosphere & the neighborhood community. Gloria opened her heart & home to many of her sons friends, she was like a second mother to them. She always struggled with her sons devilish ways but at the end of the day she loved them like no other and they loved her as if there were no tomorrow.

Gloria enjoyed baking, crafting and decorating for the holidays, most importantly she loved rooting for her two favorite teams; the Los Angeles Dodgers and USC Trojans.

Gloria was predeceased by her mother Maria Mata (2004), her brother Rosendo Mata Jr. (2013) and her father Rosendo Mata (2016). She is survived by her husband Raymond Barreno Jr., her 4 sons; Raymond III, Thomas, David and Chris, her 3 sisters; Maria Kearns, Awilda Callela, Gladys Mata, her brother Silverio Mata and her 7 loving grandchildren.

Heaven has another Angel. Until we meet again. We Will Always Love You!

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm at Halverson, Stone & Myers, 1223 Cravens Ave., Torrance, CA 90501, (310) 328-1223
