Henrietta Gayman Barbour

Barbour, Henrietta Gayman; Born June 24, 1921 in Los Angeles: only child of Hildagard Marie Lardinais Williams and Charles Gayman. Died at peace on Wednesday evening at 11:30 January 10, 2007 at the V.A. Hospital in Westwood, after a long battle with the complications associated with Alzheimer's Disease. Graduated from L.A. High School in '39, served in the U.S.M.C. '43 - '49 (1st LT), married 37 years to Bruce Robert Barbour (Seattle, WA) L.A.P.D. retired '64, Died in Dec '84. Also predeceased by daughter Caryn Rae ('64), son Brian Dale ('75). Survived by daughter Cathy Lynn, (husband Ron) grandchildren Michael, David and Jan Lyn. Son Bruce Robert II (wife Heather) granddaughters Katie, Irene, Annie Rae and Lindsay Vaille. And six beautiful great grand children.

A 60 year resident of Westchester, Hanna, as her friends knew her, was an avid gardener, belonging to the Begonia Society and Garden Club for years. A member of the Women's Marines Assoc., Republican Women's Group and long time member of the Congregational Church of the Messiah. These associations were a source of numerous dear friendships, which she enjoyed throughout her lifetime. Hanna had many interests; Sailing, gardening, knitting, reading and sharing her time with others. Volunteering on numerous Organizations; Girl Scout Leader, Goodwill Industries and supporting numerous Charities. Hanna will be remembered best for her strength of character, her love of gardening, and dedication to family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held for her on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 5pm at the Congregational Church of the Messiah in Westchester (7300 W. Manchester Ave.) Rev. David L. Gray officiating. She will be laid to rest at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, next to her husband Bruce. In lieu of flowers a gift may be given to the Church in Hanna's name, in the hopes that a Commemorative Garden will be established on the grounds of the Congregational Church, with the help of the Begonia Society of Westchester.
